Nearly forty of them have been commercially exploited and there are copies of images produced in many archives and libraries of diverse characters.

In 1971, there was no trade in the village. Authentic to the brand of coffee “the white horse”, our group at first contact with Gommersdorf it falls in the middle of the whole family blocked speechless before this incursion; the cafĂ© is closed for a long time. The pioneer time Gommersdorf 1971-1976 What brought me to Gommersdorf? I did not know the existence of this village of 270 inhabitants, at first glance not one of the deceivers among the hundred villages of Sundgau. It is through medieval archeology that I came to meet the doctor Dannemarie, Pierre Coulon, who introduced me to the mayor of Gommersdorf, Joseph Haennig, when I was looking for a hospitality village my project implement rehabilitation works of heritage by volunteers in an inhabited village, but where there are a significant number of vacant houses.

Single, John the Baptist, “Champatiss” lived in the ground floor, in the only modestly paneled Stube, equipped with a small brown clay stove. The other rooms are full to overflowing of objects and pieces of furniture, a safe dislocated leaves spread bundles archive of the nineteenth century. It was decided that the house will be heritage center to visit other houses, that of Francis Haennig, we will make houses. A first inventory of the village built , and the study of archives, inventory objects, architectural surveys, are well underway and we go very quickly in 1972 the first bulletin of “peasant houses of Alsace” dedicated to the peasant habitat Gommersdorf .
